Transportation Information

Parents please make sure your child knows what they are doing daily. Any transportation changes must occur in writing. You may fax to the front office staff but please follow up with a phone call to confirm your fax was received. Changes should be made before 1:00 p.m. All bus notes need to have an address and a phone number for verification.

Bus notes may be faxed or brought in by parents or students. If they are faxed please contact the office to make sure they were received.

Testing Reminders for 2025

Parents and students, Show what you know! Please be on time to school on testing days, have a good night's sleep and a good breakfast.

For Parents who asked about Writing tips:

Parents,

Our statewide writing assessment is Wednesday morning. We have been teaching the students how to write a complete 4 paragraph essay. The writing prompt will either be an expository or argumentative prompt.

Some of the writing skills the students have been taught are:

*writing an introduction, 2 body paragraphs, and a conclusion

*using information that is presented in the 2-3 articles the students will read.

*using transitions to introduce new paragraphs and the conclusion

*citing text evidence within paragraphs 1 and 2

*writing their own thoughts and ideas on the topic

*paraphrasing text that they read and use in their essay

*using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and complete sentences

Please review this information with your child to remind them of what they have been taught, so they are able to write the best possible essay on Wednesday morning.

Celebrate Dr. Seuss with VES on March 7th!

March is “National Reading Month” …

… and we will be celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss on:

Everyone is encouraged to wear an ORANGE shirt and a silly yellow mustache!
We will be reading many of the books written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss, including The Lorax.

Literacy Week is here!

Monday is hat day. Assemble a hat that shows something you love to read about and wear it.
Tuesday is Career Day. Dress like the future you.
Wednesday is color day. Wear bright orange or yellow for safety.
Thursday is Be a Builder. Dress like a construction site worker. Friday is Lego Day. No special outfit needed.

Thursday night (January 30) is Bingo for Books from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

VES Orientation is August 9th! 8:15 AM - 9:45 AM

Attendance Matters at VES!

When your student is absent from school, they are missing valuable instruction from their teachers.

Upon their return, please provide a parent note or a doctor's note. If you feel notes do not get to the teachers or office, please feel free to email notes to your child's teacher AND Ms. Jennifer Taylor

Current Attendance Policy:

4 unexcused tardies and/or checkouts= 1 unexcused absence

Parents may use parent notes for 4 days per nine weeks.

After 5 unexcused absences, parents will be contacted to participate in a child study team meeting.

After 10 unexcused absences, students are referred to truancy court.

Please look for any attendance updates from Ms. English on pink paper.
